Warship Display at HMS Collingwood Open Day
& Annual Field Gun Competition
On Saturday 1st July we attended the Annual Open Day at HMS Collingwood in Gosport and put on a display of Warships. We were located inside the Engraving Centre which was at the edge of the main display area and we were co-located with the Royal Navy Amateur Radio Club. Our display comprised 15 warships (Present day to WW2 ) The ships were 10 at 1/96 scale, 2 at 1/48 ,1 at 1/350 and two battleships at 1/128. The new location was much busier than previous years as we were in the main footfall area and we were kept busy with visitors throughout the day .
Our thanks to CPO “Richie” Jones his team for their support in preparing the area before our arrival and support during the day . We had collection boxes on the stand in aid of The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.
Members attending their models were :-
Dave and Andrea Reith…USS Roosevelt, IJS Shimotsuki, HMS Quorn.
Geoff Young HMS Rodney and HMS Royal Oak
John Edwards HMS Amethyst and HMS Consort
Alan Gamblin HMS Antrim and HMS Somali
David McNair-Taylor HMS Dauntless, HMS Lancaster, HMS Exeter,
HMS Lincoln, HMS Kirkliston, HMS Illustrious.
In addition we had 4 aircraft and a racing car.

Subject: Thank you from The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity

Hi David,
It was lovely to meet you at HMS Collingwood on Saturday. Thank you very much for taking an RNRMC collection bucket to have on your stand. The bucket contained £17.91 which will go towards our work supporting serving personnel, veterans and families. I am sorry we were so busy on our stand that I never got the opportunity to come over to see your models. I hope you all enjoyed your day.
Please pass on my thanks and best wishes to your fellow South Coast Modellers.
All the very best, Hilary
